On the evening of Saturday 22 February, the Old Cathedral of Salamanca, Spain will host a concert with music by the chapel master Sebastián de Vivanco. The people in charge of bringing this music from the archives of the Cathedral of Salamanca to our ears will be three groups of enormous prestige on the national and international scene: the vocal group Sourcework , the minstrels of La Danserye and the Gregorian group Schola Antiqua, all of them brought together by the specialist Michael Noone. The concert features the Missa Super octo tonos and motets by Vivanco, interpolated with liturgical plainchant.

After one year of delays, Sourcework is excited to present a concert of motets from the Liber selectarum cantionum (1520) in Regensburg, Germany, close to the 501st anniversary of the book’s printing in nearby Augsburg! Our concert has been prepared and will be performed from a facsimile of the original print. Regensburg’s Staatliche Bibliothek also holds its own original copy of the Liber selectarum.

This concert is presented as a part of the conference Herrscher in der Metropole: Spannungsfelder zwischen politischer Zentralität und urbaner Diversität in der Vormoderne. The concert is free and open to the public.
